We would like to introduce you to the Lakeland Athletic Training program. Lakeland Orthopedic Physical Therapy has been contracting athletic training services to local high schools and Lake Michigan College since 1983. This service has provided thousands of athletes quality care in prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, conditioning and education of athletic injuries.

Our staff of Certified Athletic Trainers has dedicated themselves to these student-athletes and their endeavors on and off the field. We are pleased to continue this service for your student-athlete once again this year.

The Staff of Certified Athletic Trainers at Lakeland Orthopedic Physical Therapy include:

Phil Jasheway PT, OCS, ATC, CSCS, with LOPT since 1991 and with Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School.

Matt Mabry, ATC, CSCS—with LOPT since 1996—working with St. Joseph H.S and Bridgman H.S.
Dan Tinkey, ATC—with LOPT since1981—working with Lakeshore H.S. and Lake Michigan College.

While each school is assigned a primary Certified Athletic Trainer, it is possible that you and your son/daughter will have contact with any of our ATC’s and also some of our Physical Therapists from Lakeland Orthopedic Physical Therapy.

Lake Michigan Catholic School has contracted with Lakeland Orthopedic Physical Therapy for the school year. Your Certified Athletic Trainer has after school hours 1-2 times a week and attends several home games throughout the year. Game Coverage is a decision mutually agreed upon by your Athletic Director and the ATC.

What Happens When My Son and Daughter is Injured:

If your son or daughter sustains an injury, Phil Jasheway or another ATC will be available to assess the injury during training room hours at the school, and home events he is scheduled to attend. If an injury occurs at a time when the ATC is not present, please take advantage of our triage component of the service by calling Lakeland Orthopedic Physical Therapy and scheduling an injury assessment with one of our ATC’s.

Should your son or daughter be seen by a physician and is prescribed physical therapy, we would be happy to assist with scheduling that appointment with one of our experienced group of 9 Physical Therapists, all with expertise in athletic orthopedic injuries. Having your physical therapy provided by Lakeland Orthopedic Physical Therapy helps complete the continuity of care between the Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapy, the physician and you.

We can be reached at (269) 556-7150 Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm. We arelocated in Lakeland’s Center for Outpatient Services at 3950 Hollywood Road, Suite 140, St.Joseph.

If you have any other questions please feel free to contact any of the ATC’s or the Lakeland Orthopedic Physical Therapy manager, Mark Russell, ATC. We are committed to the well being of your athletes and look forward to enjoying a safe, healthy and successful season.
